Information Kiosks Get SMARTer at Calgary International Airport and Chamber of Commerce
Award-winning touch technology gives kiosk users easy access to information
Calgary, AB – April 27, 2004 – SMART Technologies Inc. announces the installation of SMART’s interactive overlays as information kiosks in the Calgary International Airport domestic arrivals area and the lobby of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. Calgary Technologies Inc. (CTI), the economic development agency for Calgary’s advanced technology sector, launched an initiative to profile Calgary’s high-tech and business sectors using SMART’s touch-sensitive interactive overlays. With plans to place additional information kiosks in Calgary this year, CTI’s long-term goal is to have SMART’s interactive overlays located in high-profile business and civic areas throughout Calgary to showcase Calgary-based companies and technology development.
SMART’s interactive overlay fastens easily and securely to a large LCD or plasma display so kiosk users can instantly access information on a large interactive plasma or LCD screen. The interactive overlay features SMART’s award-winning DViT™ (Digital Vision Touch) technology, which uses state-of-the-art digital cameras embedded in the frame to detect contact across the entire screen. With no wires or sensors between the user and the display screen, the image quality is clear, bright and crisp.

SMART’s interactive overlays are ideal for large, interactive digital signage and self-service kiosks in retail stores, hotels, trade shows, airports, museums, building directories and other public and semi-public indoor venues. Kiosk computers can be programmed to include a variety of information, from maps to product and service descriptions. Customers can touch an icon on the large interactive screen to find a location on a map, locate products in a store or make purchases directly. When customers are not interacting with the display, it can work simply as digital signage.
